Nothing can beat visiting the Pilsner Urquell brewery itself in Pilsen, which is a short train ride from Prague and within walking distance of the train station in Pilsen. If you make the journey to Pilsen for the brewery tour, restaurant, and gift shop, you might want to make additional stops in town at Lekarna, Pivstro, and Pivoteka.
While you in are in Prague, take note that some Pilsner Urquell is fresher than others, and the best of the best are known as Tankova Pubs which have fresh, unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell. Your best bet is one of the LOKAL locations in Prague. Our favorites were Lokal Dlouhaaa and Lokal Hamburk. If the latter is too busy, you can also visit a nearby tankova at Restaurace U ceskeho Lva just across from the Florenc train station.
Pilsener Urquell is probably the most well known Czech beer and simply the best when fresh.
Na zdraví (cheers)
